Top 5 Cloud Providers of 2020

No matter whether it is software, services, products, applications or operation systems, everything is moving towards cloud now.

Cloud computing today is mature and going multi-cloud. It has multiplied significantly in the course of last few years.

We are slowly drifting towards the close of 2020 and this is probably the best time to reflect on the best cloud providers of this year.

Picking the best cloud service providers is not easy. Regardless of whether it is Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform or Dell, IBM or VMware in the multi-cloud deployments, multiple variables are available for each enterprise.

Now, let us go through the 2020 best cloud computing vendors.

Amazon Web Services

AWS was a leader in public cloud computing earlier and now, it has acquired the status of a prime player in machine learning, AI, database as well as serverless deployment.

AWS came with its offer of infrastructure as a service way back in 2008 and never looked back after that. It has been launching new services and creating its computing stack that aims at better efficacy.

AWS has advanced storage and cloud compute.

AWS keeps on shining with most of its parent’s operating income. However, the e-commerce unit of Amazon and the company’s response to Covid 19 has somewhat overshadowed it.

AWS is used by Small and Medium Sized Businesses (SMBs) and large enterprises.

Microsoft Azure

One of the fastest growing clouds, Azure was launched well after the release of Google Cloud and AWS but it is fast to catch up and is presently very close to being one of the top cloud services providers.

Microsoft Azure revenue is somewhat tough to predict. It broke the revenue of the last quarter into three categories, Intelligent Cloud, Personal Computing and Productivity. Microsoft Azure is one of the most profitable services in the world.

This is used by the SMBs and large enterprises.

IBM Cloud

Only three years before, IBM realised that it is confusing the buyers with diverse branded cloud options. Moreover, the purpose of these options was not clear to the buyers.

So, they decided to merge their services into one, referring to it as IBM cloud.

IBM Cloud offers 180+ services for public and on-premises cloud systems. These services include bare metal server, DevOps tools, serverless computing, container deployments, blockchain, etc.

The bare metal server offering allows to lift and shift the on-premises workloads running on IBM platform to cloud with little modification.

This is used by SMB, midrange and the bigger enterprises.

Google Cloud Platform

The Google Cloud Platform was designed for the cloud developers. Though it is way behind IBM and Amazon Web Services, it is slowly making a position for itself in the global market.

Google Cloud platform works with the on-premises systems for providing elastic infrastructure, DevOps, big data and disaster recovery.

This platform is primary used by the midrange and bigger enterprises.

Oracle Cloud

This is the cloud offering of Oracle corporation. It offers IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, and DaaS.

This is used by SMBS, large enterprises and government agencies.
