Do you use Google Chrome?
The web browser of Google Chrome offers one of the most popular ways to browse the web.
Google enjoys a dominant presence in online advertising and thus, it takes up a lot of your browsing data to display the advertisements. This is the business model of Google and by using Chrome, you agree to this data collection plan. However, this certainly does not mean that the company is not adding any privacy or security feature to its product.
Remaining safe and secure is a significant part of Google Chrome DNA.
Along with the default protective features, it offers intuitive, accessible and useful controls to help make the right choices.
Here are some of the latest features introduced by Google Chrome.
Improved Settings
It is now very easy to manage the cookies and multiple other permissions within the browser.
The users can decide if and the ways the cookies can be used by the websites they visit. The cookie permission can be managed in both the regular as well as the incognito mode.
Chrome will block the third-party cookies by default in the incognito mode. However, the users can allow the third-party cookies on some websites using the eye icon.
The browser’s site settings is now divided into two sections.
While the first section allows the users to access as well as enable permissions for camera, location and microphone, another section highlights the recent permissions activity.
Better Synchronisation Control
The People settings is replaced by You and Google. This allows the users to control which data and settings are synchronised with the Google account for accessing different devices.
Enhanced Safety Check
With the option to check the safety from Settings, Google allows its users confirm safety of experience while they use Chrome. This tool keeps the users updated on password.
Moreover, it warns the user if it detects a malicious software. It also guides the users on ways to remove them.
Password Protection
The Google Chrome users will receive an alert message if they sign up on a website or somewhere else using passwords that has been subjected to data breach.
This is an integration of the Password Checkup tool. This role of this tool is to alert the users about hacked passwords.
Safer Browsing
The enhanced safe browsing feature was chiefly introduced to share the uncommon URLs with Google.
Done in real time, this feature helps to avoid the issues with malware or phishing.
Before the release of this update, the domain had to be known cause of concern to trigger the warning message.
Since the phishing sites usually rotate the domain names, it was hard for Google to stay updated.
As the new feature sends the URLs in real time, it is easier to determine whether you are landing up on a phishing website.
Chrome will also send you a few suspicious downloads and pages to help you determine if the website is a threat.
If you sign in to Gmail, Drive or any other Google service, you will get some added protection.
